Goodbye to fans

Wed Apr 29, 2009, 7:06 AM
To my Hack/Slash fans out there,

Issue 22 was my last issue. I'm so sad to leave -- you guys have made life worth living for the past 2 1/2 years. For a few different reasons, it was time for me to move on to the next thing; as Calvin once told Hobbes, "I must follow the inscrutable exhortations of my soul." :)

I hear that the super-talented (and true horror fan) Bryan Baugh is doing some issues now:
:iconbryanbaugh:

And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the movie to finally be made.

For those of you who don't banish me from your watch lists for mostly drawing flowers and whatnot these days, I promise to try to throw something gross in there from time to time!

Em

I recently got into Hack/Slash and really enjoyed your work on the series!

Hi Emily,
I'm happy to see that you want to explore other sides of your talent. You will be missed on Hack/slash though :)
I ws wondering if you ink your pages or if they are pencils only.
May the force be with you ;)
Thanks very much!! :) The pages are mainly pencils, but by the end of my stint on the book I was adding some black areas and a little bit of shading with ink.
That's what I thought. In France, we curently have a lot of artists, coming mainly from animation, that are working exactly like you: pencils, scan of the originals, they increase the contrast and then they can color. The impression is great. That's why I am so disappointed you leave Hack/Slash. Nobody gave such an impressive result in the whole serie (except Stefano Caselli) ;)
An artist shouldn't be just one genre, yet said artist can be considered a marketing nightmare.
