Artist's Comments

Hooray, I finished my first digital painting! Not bad for an elderly Wacom tablet --not very pressure-sensitive :( --and Photoshop 5.5. This is Iphis, knight in shining armor on a white horse, who is also a lesbian. And a disciple of Isis.

Worked directly over my pencils and left some of the rough pencil texture underneath.

The border I designed after an illuminated manuscript, a while back.

The details are beautiful in this. I especially like her expression. And the horse... very realistic (I'm horrible at drawing animals ^^; )

YAAAAAY, it is AWESOME. god, this is meant to be your FIRST digital painting? Let me hate you  ~instant fav, as I already expected~ ...by the way, everything on it looks wondeerful, but the best thing about it is the way you did the horse. ....man, this lady is too cool, seriously..

This is nice. I like the angle of the pose. It is all very well rendered. The thick black outline surprisingly works well in this, giving it a real medieval feel. The expression and face is good too.
I did a digital painting of a similar female knight ('The Knight is Young' [link] ), but I like yours better.

Gah. You're too humble. Just say it! "I (insert explitive here) rock!"

Thanks very much! I've always loved drawing horses.

Thank you -- thanks for the watch, too. I'm going to go check out your stuff.

I really appreciate it!! Yeah, I really want to write some stories for this girl... have to do that on the side, for now... other priorities :(

Thanks a lot! With the outline I was thinking Alphonse Mucha, or stained glass; I'm glad it was effective. Your stuff is very pretty and painstaking! I used reference as a jumping-off point when I did the original pencil sketch for this painting (myself as a child riding bareback on my old swaybacked pony, in this case :) ).
